On Monday 2nd October, some girls from Years 5 & 6 participation in the Football finals following on from last week’s tournament. The finals took place at Taunton Athletics Club and involved altogether 8 teams. The first game we played was against St Georges. It was a tough game and ended in a 0-0 draw. The second game we played against West Monkton and it was our best game—Merryn had a great chance, which was so nearly our first goal, but was annoyingly saved by the keeper! It was shortly followed by an amazing last minute goal by Rose. Our third game was against Lyngford Park and Jess took 3 great corners and provided some nice chances, but it wasn’t quite enough. In the fourth game we played Trull and Elsa took a fantastic free kick which was another fabulous chance to score! In the end, first place was awarded to Thurlbear, second place went to Trull and third place was… Milverton! We were unbeaten and were a solid team, with Elsa captaining in the first tournament and Merryn in the finals. Throughout both tournaments we had Lena, our academy level expert keeper, which helped massively when the opposition attacked. All the team played well and supported each other. Thank you to all the parents, supporters and our coaches Miss Storey and Mr Coupe. The Milverton Lionesses
