Welcome to Class 6
My name is Stephen Penny and this is my sixth year at Milverton and my 9th year in teaching. I have previously worked as a Learning Support Assistant and sports coach and have lots of experience working with children at primary school age.
Year 6 is a very exciting time for the children at Milverton; being top of the school they will have many learning opportunities and also some extra responsibilities. The children have been trained to buddy the younger children in school, during play times, which allows them to model good behaviour and develop problem solving skills. They also have the chance to become House Captains which are hugely sort after roles here at Milverton. Each child will also have class and school monitor jobs which allow them to help run the school but also take pride in their working environment.
In Year 6 we aim to teach in a variety of styles to meet the needs of all pupils. We always look to extend learning out of the classroom and will do so through trips and having visitors into the school. We also have an exciting residential at Kingswood on the Isle of Wight to look forward to later this year!
Parents are always welcome in the classroom. If you would like to see me then please pop in either before 8.45am or after school at 3.15pm on any day apart from Tuesday afternoon.
