Classes 1 and 2 visited Dunster Castle this week to support our Quest 'Kings, Queens and Castles'. We have been studying the history of castles over the last 1,000 years and in Geography we have been learning about both the physical and human features which have impacted where castles are built. We saw many features we have been learning about, for example: battlements, arrow slits, a 'Mote and Bailey' mound, a great hall and towers. We even got to pretend to knock down a portcullis! Luckily, they didn't keep us in the dungeon! The children were so engaged and interested in learning about castles. The children were great representatives of the school and it was lovely to receive such positive comments about them from both castle staff and the coach drivers.
