On the 17th March, we arrived at Charter House and were welcomed by the enthusiastic instructors and were given a tour of the main building. We then did team building games like ‘Mine Sweeper’ and ‘The Tower of Hanoi’ made from massive tyres. In the evening, we walked up to Beacons Batch, which is 1066 ft above sea level. It was pitch-black during the walk and we had to bring torches. Furthermore, we all fell over at least once.  The next days had some awesome activities in store for us. First of all we went climbing up 5 cliff faces at Ubley Warren. We got into groups of three and one of us would climb, one of us would hold the rope using a special safety clip (which meant no one would fall down the cliff face) and the final child would feed the rope through the clip. Then, we went gorge walking through a stream. The ’Polo’ was the hardest thing yet; it involved painful manoeuvring through a small hole in the rock! We then we had to climb up a 3ft waterfall. We went caving in a show cave called Goatchurch Cavern. There were stalactites and stalagmites, which are made from calcium. There were also lesser horseshoe bats and greater horseshoe bats. In the cave there were tight spaces and fallen rocks; we even went over 100ft below sea level into the boulder chambers! In the afternoon, we did real archery and the low ropes. In the evening, we told stories around the campfire. On our last day, we went orienteering and had to find different numbers and then find out what their letter was. During orienteering, we covered an expansive area in Blackmoor nature reserve. Then, we departed back to school. To conclude, it was an amazing experience that I would highly recommend. Thank you to Mr Coupe, Mr Lee and Mrs Brierley for looking after us.  by Alfred R
