Physical Education
Intent
At Milverton School the children learn the fundamental skills which will enable them to become physically competent and confident. We believe that high-quality PE sessions help children to build essential skills and knowledge both in competitive sporting events but also life beyond the classroom. Our PE curriculum aims to support children to communicate effectively, to cope with winning and losing, to develop their perseverance, deal with emotions, develop social skills and plan tactics.
Our PE curriculum develops skills and knowledge progressively, enabling children to develop fundamental skills and key knowledge allowing them to be capable and assured in a range of sports and games. The children experience a range of curriculum topics through their learning journey here at Milverton centred around traditional sports but also the REAL PE scheme of work, which develops children’s physical literacy and learning behaviours through inclusive sessions. Our ambition is that every child develops skills and knowledge to enable them to be confident in sports but also in life beyond the classroom.
