Year 5 Kilve Trip 2017

5 May 2017

From Wednesday 19th April to Friday 21st April Class 5 was out at Kilve Court Residential Centre. We spent the first afternoon learning valuable teamwork skills through a series of hands-on, and at times hilarious, activities. The day was concluded with an exciting, torch-lit night walk during which we made a new friend in one of the local sheep who clearly wanted to join us on our stroll! Day 2 kicked off with some fossil hunting on the beach where Daisy lost her balance but redeemed herself in finding a highly rare Crinoid fossil, much to the jealousy of our Kilve Court instructor. The afternoon brought with it an action-packed schedule of activities including archery, climbing, grass-sledging and a blindfolded fantasy trail. The children really challenged themselves and overcame various fears and concerns with such positivity and enthusiasm. In the evening Kilve Court held a quiz for us and we only hope the children did not go to bed too upset at having been beaten by the incredible teacher team (mwahahaha!) Before we knew it we were rising for the last day but the children made the most of it by spending the morning taking part in more of the activities from the day before and learning important independence skills in packing up their belongings and making sure their rooms were tidy (they have no excuses at home now parents!) After our final delicious meal we boarded the coach, a much more tired troop than had set off from school a couple of days before. It really was the most fabulous trip and I would like to thank Mrs Downs and Mr Stead for helping to make my first residential such an enjoyable experience. My biggest thanks goes to Class 5 for their fantastic behaviour and constant enthusiasm. I am so incredibly proud to be your teacher. I have put up a selection of photographs in the classroom so please do feel free to pop your head in after school and have a look.                                                                                           Miss Gauntlett
